Serving our neighborhood, our city, and Central Oregon

Westside Community Center exists to provide a physical, spiritual, practical, emotional, cultural, and relational space for the people of our community. A place people think of when they need to learn, grow, find connection, get help, relax, and have fun. A place where the love of Jesus is expressed through hospitality, conversation, generosity, and open doors.

We are an open mixing place…

…for the general public, but we are strongly committed to bringing together people who may not normally spend time together in the hope that they will become friends, seeking deeper relationships with each other and with the community. A sign I once saw in an old café window proclaimed, ‘There are no strangers here, just friends who haven’t met,’ and that pretty much captures what we’re about.

Sharing our Facility

Offering our beautiful, functional spaces so that individuals, businesses, & non-profits, can grow, learn, find connection, and succeed.

Creating Community

Within our walls, we are creating times and spaces where groups can meet, conversations can happen, and people can find real connection.

our vision

Creating a “Third Place”
in our community

In sociology, the third place refers to our important social surroundings as distinct from home (first place) and the workplace (second place).

our story

Westside Church & Community Center

Generations of Westsiders have left us with a rich legacy of faith and resource today – a testimony to God’s goodness and love for our city. Throughout our history, we’ve enjoyed partnering with non-profit organizations, local government, and other community groups to meet needs throughout Central Oregon.

1955
  • Opening Our Doors

In 1955, Bend Foursquare Church (Now Westside Church), opened its doors to our city for the first time.

1988
  • Breaking Ground

In the 1980s, Westside made the move from 14th Street (now the Rosie Bareis Community Center) to Shevlin Park Road, constructing the building we worship in today. Over the years we’ve expanded the facility to include a Student Center, Gym, Atrium, and Chapel.

2021
  • Hosting Head Start

We began hosting Head Start – quality pre-kindergarten education – in March of 2021, using more of our facility on a daily basis to bless families in Bend.

2023
  • Westside Community Center

Out of a desire to be in partnership and relationship with our community, we officially became Westside Church and Community Center in January 2023.
